Something to add? Let us Know!
The Global Conversation course is meant to engage students in exploring the way we’ve been living on the planet, whether or not our way of life is sustainable, and what we must do to insure that we make human habitation of the planet sustainable in the future. The course therefore allows students to “connect the dots” between a variety of issues including toxicity in the human body, consumerism, food, population, energy, and climate change among others by following online lectures, readings and interactive tools. Students will gain knowledge from a variety of sources and speakers of different academic and experiential backgrounds. In the process we will also explore positive alternatives that may help us to realize a “global civil society” informed by an ethic of care for our environment.
Students will have the opportunity to work on a common project in online Learning Circles with students in other countries throughout the world. Since 2007, hundreds of students from institutions in nearly 40 countries, including over 50 US colleges and universities, have participated in The Global Conversation.
