Jenna Goodhand

Jenna Goodhand, ECN Student & University Coordinator, graduated from the University of Waterloo, Canada in 2010 with a Masters in Peace & Conflict Studies, a Minor in Political Science and Option in International Relations. In 2010 she was stationed in Kõszeg, Hungary working as the Program Assistant for International Development at the Institute for Social and European Studies. While in Hungary she pursued her Masters in International Economic Relations. Jenna is also the assistant coordinator for The Global Conversations course, for the past three years. Her environmental passions are food security, biodiversity preservation and sustainable consumption and production.

Chris Ragland
Senior, University of California
Santa Barbara, CA

Chris is a Senior Environmental Science and Technology Management major at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He began his studies at UCSB as a pre-med biology major but eventually a newfound environmental consciousness drew him out of the lab and into the field. Broadening his global outlook and environmental concern, he spent a semester of his junior year in Thailand researching ecosystem degradation and commercialization. He now finds himself exploring renewable energy solutions, particularly in the sphere of sustainable entertainment. Chris is also an intern for Green Campus, a network of student interns that work to promote energy efficiency in and around college campuses in California.

Brandon Kaysen
Senior, University of California
Santa Barbara, CA

Brandon is a Senior Undergraduate student at University of California, Santa Barbara where he double majors in Environmental Studies and Business Economics (2008-2012). He is the Team Manager of the Green Campus Program at UCSB and also works part-time with Physical Facilities. Some of his main jobs on campus include energy efficiency, outreach and energy education, as well as work on academic infusion, cautionary campus development, LEED certification, recycling, and water efficiency. His areas of exploration include sustainability, coastal ecology, permaculture, green technology and renewable energy, with a particular interest in community and environmental job research.

Eva Mossberg

Eva works as a project coordinator intern with the School for Field Studies, volunteers as a Travel Ambassador for The International Ecotourism Society, and maintains her own blog. She has a B.S. in Tourism and Travel from the University of New Haven. An outdoor enthusiast since her childhood summers on an island off the coast of Sweden, she is a sea kayak guide and enjoys photography, sailing, swimming, horse riding, snow sports, hiking, cycling, and running. She is actively involved in local organizations working for sustainable initiatives and land stewardship.

Max Engelsiepen

Max is currently studying digital media design, video production and fine art at Santa Barbara City College and provides assignment photography, editorial illustration and graphical support to ecology.com and the Ecology Campus Network.

Katie Wedemeyer
San Diego, CA

Katie received a B.S. in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution and a minor in Spanish Literature from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in December of 2009. During her undergraduate studies she studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain where she interned at the Barcelona Zoo. In Perth, Australia she held a graduate level research internship at the University of Western Australia. She is a founding member of the Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution Club at UCSD and was the club’s Vice President in the fall of 2009. She volunteers her time at the San Diego non-profit Pro Peninsula. She is currently the Lead Educator at the Chula Vista Nature Center where she puts her passion for environmental stewardship to use.

Maria Nanette Anzola

Maria Nanette is currently finishing her undergraduate degree in Mass Communications and Political Science with a concentration in Development at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. Nanette was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Nanette co-founded the campus organization H.O.L.A.S.(Organization of Latin American Students) which works with NGOs worldwide such as Sociedad Amigos de los Ninos (Friends of Honduran Children), AIESEC, Oxfam, and Millennium Villages.

Lu Yu

Lu graduated from Carleton University with a Hournors Degree in Mass Communication in the spring of 2010. After her two-month internship at the Foreign Affairs Office in Henan Province, China, Lu accepted an offer to work as a reporter/editor at Blue Sky Media Inc. in Canada. Lu is interested in politics and socio-economics in the developing world.

Casey Petz

As our 2009 summer intern, Casey launched our Facebook page, began work on an ecology photo library and continues to support Ecology Today as an editor/publisher and manages the Facebook initiative. Casey recently received her degree from the University of Miami with a double major in Advertising and Psychology.

David Nostbakken, Ph.D.

In addition to his work with the Ecology Global Network, David is CEO of the Power of Peace Network, a UNESCO supported multimedia and ICT platform, and Director & President of the China Green Channel International (CGCI). He was a founder, CEO and first Chairman of Vision Television, and has developed communication strategies for institutions such as WHO, UICC, UNESCO, the World Bank, and has produced with CBC, TVO, WTN, TVE, and the BBC. Dr. Nostbakken has a Ph.D. in Communications, University of Toronto.

Jack Hall, Ph.D.
Director, Ecology Campus Network

Dr. Jack Hall is Chair of the Department of Environmental Studies at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, and has been involved in earth/environmental education for public school teachers and students for over 20 years, Jack’s background is in marine micropaleontology, biostratigraphy and paleoenvironmental reconstruction, and he has worked extensively on the physical and biological aspects of modern and ancient marine and coastal environments. Dr. Hall earned his Ph.D. in geology from the Ohio State University.

Deborah Harter Williams

Deborah Harter Williams is a Writer and Marketing Consultant with experience in media, technology, television, food and visual effects. Whether she is teaching college classes, co-authoring a cookbook, introducing new digital tools for filmmakers, setting up a mystery bookstore or being a TV critic, her mission is making connections. From where she sits in her home near Half Moon Bay, California, it all fits together. Finding the stories that demonstrate our relationship to each other through the environment and how we can learn more about that relationship is what she does.

Christopher Palmer
Distinguished Film Producer in Residence
American University School of Communication

Chris Palmer is a wildlife filmmaker who joined the SOC faculty in 2004. He founded its Center for Environmental Filmmaking; launched Classroom in the Wild, which takes students to wilderness areas to make films; and initiated collaborations with Maryland Public Television, which broadcasts SOC student films as part of its EcoViews series about the Chesapeake Bay, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Palmer has produced hundreds of films for television and IMAX theaters. He and his colleagues have won numerous awards, including two Emmys, an Oscar nomination and the Environmental Film Educator of the Decade Award at the Green Globe Film Awards. His book, Shooting in the Wild, was published by Sierra Club Books.
