This is an exciting time! At last, we have a multifaceted, virtual campus that is built by students, for students and with students that plugs directly into the pulse of ecology and the day’s environmental dynamics – no matter where you are, where you are from, what language you speak, or what your areas of expertise or interests may be.

We all share the common grounds of life and living. We all breathe the same air, are connected by the same oceans, have values for progress and self-improvement and desires to live a life that meets our personal goals and objectives. At the root of it all, we want to ensure future health and success for ourselves, our families and those we love.

We want to be able to contribute and to make a difference. We want to listen and learn, but we also want to be heard.

The energy, creativity, skill and sheer intuition within today’s youth cry out for meaning and relevance. They are components that fuel our drive to make a difference and to succeed in life.

And there is not a subject more pervasive nor more essential in every aspect of everyone’s lives everywhere than ecology that permeates the heart of our existence – our quality of life, our past, present and future.

All colleges and universities have environmental and ecology programs, courses and clubs. But this campus is for students of all areas and disciplines. The Ecology Campus Network (ECN) is the portal for all students to make their mark, to hear and be heard, to work collaboratively with all other students and educators throughout the world on those vital subjects and matters which we know something about and those we have yet to discover. It is the place for students – and educators – to link with other students and educators around the world to share life and living from their perspectives, learn from each other, and find the answers and enlightenment they seek. It is where we take our entire learning and educational process to a level of global awareness, where we can get to know each other better, work together, and collaborate in ways that help us individually reach our goals and make a difference. It is a safe place to learn, to critique, to create, and to celebrate, supported by opportunities and resources within the campus network.

The Ecology Campus Network is yours to grow. This initial phase of ECN introduces the basic platforms of communications and resources where students will hear from and connect with other students. It is designed to be viral within itself as well as interconnect with its own social platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. Its very virtual nature makes it optimum for direct personal involvement as well as perusal to meet your need at your pace in your own time.

And the future growth of ECN is quite robust! The Ecology Campus Network is a key integrated, yet stand-alone part of the Ecology Global Network, a global service combining satellite television, Internet, global radio, music and personal digital devices into a single collaborative community. As the Ecology Global Network launches its multimedia services via cable and satellite worldwide, ECN will naturally be included within that framework. ECN will include television, radio and music within its near future campus offerings, and will introduce new and innovative forums for participation, communication and collaboration. Resources for research and development – and entertainment as well – will add to the growth of the campus’ features as the Ecology Global Network expands.

You can start now by seeing what your Ecology Campus Network colleagues are saying and by sharing your own thoughts. Use the site as a place for resources and let us know what you would like to see. Stay with it and grow with it as it continues to expand globally. Let your voice be heard!

ECN’s premise is simple: Anyone who wants to learn is a student; and anyone who can and wants to teach can be an educator. What you learn, you can teach to others,  and have fun doing it in ways you have not yet imagined.

This is your campus. Take pleasure in the experience and be part of its continual growth. We’ve only just begun. Welcome to your virtual campus of adventure and exploration of ecology and our global home” – the place where we live!
